The Labour Party has officially won the 2024 general election in a landslide victory in the UK election to end 14 years of conservative rule.
According to a video footage on the CNN X page, the prospective prime minister, Keir Starmer addressed party supporters at a victory rally in central London this morning and declared that,” Election victories don’t fall from the sky, they’re hard won and hard fought for and this one could only be won by a changed Labour Party.”
He added that the task of a Labour government is to renew ideas that hold the country together.
In the next few hours, Starmer is anticipated to meet with King Charles and be asked to form a new government. Later in the day, he is anticipated to reveal his cabinet as well.
Although he has conceded the election, Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was able to retain his position, although several of his cabinet members did not. Among them are Education Minister Gillan Keegan and Defence Minister Grant Shapps. Liz Truss, a former prime minister of the Conservative Party, also lost by a margin of just over 600 votes.
