The construction of a third Heart Stadium is set to begin in soon at Chipala Community Ground in Lilongwe, Malawi.
This follows the successful completion of similar projects in Harare, and Maputo, Mozambique by Prophet Walter Magaya.
The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Lilongwe Mayor Esther Sagawa and other government officials, marks a significant milestone in Magaya’s ongoing efforts to develop sports infrastructure across the region.
Magaya revealed that Malawian officials approached him for assistance, leading to the swift completion of the necessary paperwork.
Despite his international projects, Magaya emphasized his commitment to renovating stadiums in Zimbabwe, such as Chibuku or Gwanzura, which he considers his main priority.
“I still want to rehabilitate Chibuku or Gwanzura if permitted. Upgrading Chibuku remains my main prayer, and one day, maybe, the authorities will allow me to do it as my last efforts were shot down,” said Magaya.
A previous attempt to renovate Chibuku Stadium was rejected by the Chitungwiza council.
Addressing speculations about his intentions regarding the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) elections, Magaya clarified that his dedication to football spans 16 years and is currently focused on hosting a grassroots football and netball tournament at the Heart Stadium in Waterfalls next weekend.
