A 17-year-old boy from Zimre Park appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court after allegedly defrauding high school students in a fake Junior Parliament scheme.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the teenager posed as a member of the Junior Parliament and lured students with promises of joining the Junior Motivators SADC Parliament program.

He reportedly charged the students US$62 for registration and uniforms, and an additional US$50 for a camping trip to Domboshava Resort. After collecting the payments, totaling US$2,600, the boy vanished, leaving the students with nothing.

The statement confirmed that none of the money was recovered. The accused has since been released into the custody of his guardians.
