The Zimbabwe Republic Police are appealing for information that may help in the arrest of Webster Mubata who stabbed his student lover several times before fleeing the scene.
Mubata stabbed Audrey Rwambiwa, a 25 year old student at the Women University in Africa, after she returned home late from a party.
The two had been cohabiting at Tanaka Place along Josiah Chinamano Avenues area in near the CBD. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza has since confirmed the case and has appealed for information that may lead to Webster’s arrest.
“Police are investigating an attempted murder case involving a university student reported to have been stabbed by her lover, the accused ran away after committing the offence.
“The complainant sustained several wounds all over the body and is currently admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital,” said Inspector Chakanza.
It was revealed that Audrey had attended her friend’s party on Friday but only returned home the next day around 3am which did not sit well with Mubata.
Mubata started assaulting Rwambiwa and he picked a kitchen knife in which he used to stab Audrey once on the left breast, left arm, finger and on her ribs.
Rwambiwa tried to escape from Webster and ran into the bathroom in which Webster followed her and stabbed her several times on the back and her left shoulder before she managed to lock the bathroom door.
Rwambiwa later broke the bathroom window and escaped calling for help from their neighbors who responded and took her to Parirenyatwa Hospital where she is admitted.
