20 years sentence for father who raped 3-year-old biological daughter

A 37-year-old man from Harare was convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after being found guilty for raping his 9-year-old biological daughter.
The incident occurred on September 23, 2024 in the afternoon hours when the accused ordered the complainant to come to his bedroom and take off her clothes before sexually assaulting his daughter according to National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ).
“On the 23rd of September 2023 at around 1400 hours the accused person called the complainant to his bedroom where he ordered her to take off her clothes before raping her.“He ordered her not tell anyone after committing the offence, confirmed the NPAZ.
A few minutes after raping the complainant, it is reported that he called her again to his bedroom and raped her again.
The issue became known on the same day of the incident as the complainant told the case to her mother who then seeked help from their neighbours.
“The matter came to light when the complainant confided in her mother about the offence that same day.
“The complainant’s mother mobilized her neighbours who helped her apprehend the accused person
“A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person and the accused person was convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, read the statement.
Meanwhile, in a different case, Tawanda Maronze a 23-year-old from Bulawayo appeared before the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing kidnapping charges of a 3-year-old girl whom he wanted to rape and use for ritual issues as per an instruction he had bee given by his traditional healer.He was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
Tawanda kidnapped the girl on October 26, 2024 where he took her into a bushy area five km from her home where he was apprehended by complainant’s aunt who saw Tawanda carrying the complainant.
“He was intercepted by the complainant’s aunt who was driving along Solusi Road in the company of her friends.
“The complainant’s aunt saw the accused person carrying the complainant and confronted him,” confirmed the NPAZ.
