Tragedy struck in Ruwa last night as prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura (67) was shot dead in his home during a suspected robbery at his farm along Dustain Road, famously known as Mutangadura Hideout.

The incident occurred around 2300 hours on 17 August 2025, when seven armed intruders, wearing balaclavas and armed with pistols, claw bars, and hammers, broke into the premises. They reportedly overpowered a security guard, tied him up, and forced him and Mutangadura’s son to lie down in the dining room before entering the room where Mutangadura was sleeping with his wife.
Mutangadura was shot in the stomach and later rushed to Eden Hospital, Windsor, Ruwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife survived the attack but was unconscious at the time.
Police investigations are ongoing, with authorities appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the suspects. The details and value of property stolen during the attack are still being verified.
