The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said several convicted criminals have been sentenced at the Harare Magistrate Court for armed robbery, carjacking, unlawful entry, and theft in cases concluded this month.
In a statement, police said: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of accused persons who were recently convicted and sentenced for armed robbery, murder, unlawful entry into premises and theft cases for the period ending 16th September 2025.”
On September 6, Kundiso Mlambo (22), Noel Gandazha (32) and Takudzwa Mazhambe (29) were each handed five years in jail for attacking a complainant in July before stealing a bag containing clothes and a cellphone.
The same court sentenced John Chagwiza (36) to 16 years for repeatedly breaking into homes and stealing property. Meanwhile, Allan Moyo (35), who impersonated a police officer while stealing vehicles, was jailed for 20 years. Police said Moyo “impersonated police officers, stole vehicles from four complainants and sold them to unsuspecting buyers during 2024.”
Two days later, Garikai Zhelende (30) was jailed for eight years after targeting victims in secluded areas and robbing them of cash and valuables. He also broke into a church and a school, where he stole kitchen utensils, drums, and roofing sheets.
On September 13, carjackers Enock Mawarire (39) and Khulekani Sibanda (34) were convicted and sentenced to 12 years for robbing a Nissan Caravan in Belvedere. Days later, Tapiwa Malasha (32) and Francis Zuze (41) were jailed for seven years for stealing a Toyota Hiace vehicle at Zvipoto shops in Chitungwiza.
The ZRP applauded members of the public for their role in the convictions, saying: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for supplying information that led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the accused persons. The public should continue supplying information on criminal activities in the country.”
