VP Chiwenga in Iran for the 2nd Iran-Africa International Economic Conference

Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga is in Tehran, Iran, where he is going to be leading a Zimbabwean delegation to the second Iran-Africa International Economic Conference.

The conference is set to run for four days, during which Dr. Chiwenga is expected to meet with the Iranian President, His Excellency Ebrahim Raisi, and the First Vice President, Dr. Mohammad Mokhber, together with other government officials.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information in Zimbabwe, Nick Mangwana, said, “The conference is the brainchild of the Iranian leadership, which is making an effort to bring together countries of the Global South for mutually beneficial exchanges.”

The conference is set to discuss business and knowledge transfer between the 2 nations.

Iran’s engagements are expected to help Zimbabwe develop under the unfair sanctions imposed on the country.

“Iran itself has been under tough economic sanctions for over 45 years, and the engagements are expected to help Zimbabwe thrive under unfair sanctions imposed by the West.”

Zimbabwe has been under sanctions from the U.S.A. and other Western countries.The United Kingdom slapped the country with financial sanctions as an aim for Zimbabwe to respect democratic principles and institutions and the rule of law.
