President Mnangagwa met with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi and Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi today for the signing of the tripartite agreement on the new Techobanine deep water port in Mozambique.

President Mnangagwa was accompanied by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Dr Frederick Shava and other senior government officials.

With a budget of $6.5 billion, the project seeks to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration.

President Mnangagwa said that the $6.5 billion project includes a deep-water port in Matutuine District.

“This US$6.5 billion project includes a port in Mozambique’s Matutuine District and a 1,700km railway linking Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana,” he said.

President Mnangagwa also added how this multibillion-dollar-dollar project goes beyond just infrastructure as it also represents cross-border investments.

“This agreement is more than just an infrastructure project; it embodies the broader regional integration dream of widening mutually beneficial investments and promoting intra-regional trade.

Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more connected Southern Africa,” said Mnangagwa.
