Shihan Mashaya excels at IMAC English open tourney

Reigning Kobudo World Champion Shihan Wilfred Mashaya, recently showcased his unparalleled martial arts prowess at the International Martial Arts Corporation (IMAC) English Open Tournament.

The event was held at the York Leisure Centre in England on Sunday, and Mashaya scooped four gold medals and one silver medal.

Affectionately known as “Zim Ninja,” Mashaya competed in five categories, demonstrating his exceptional skills with various ancient Okinawan and Japanese weapons such as swords, nunchaku, tonfa, sai, and kama.

He secured gold medals in the Black Belt Traditional Weapon, Black Belt Freestyle Weapon, Black Belt Creative Weapons, and Mixed Weapon Category divisions. His sole silver medal came in the Advanced Musical Weapons category.

He is also a holder of multiple black belts in disciplines including Kyokushin, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, and self-defense.

The tournament featured top martial artists from around the globe, including competitors from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Zimbabwe, India, Nepal, Morocco, and the USA. Mashaya’s victory marks a significant milestone as he prepares for the upcoming martial arts World Championships in October in Germany.

In recognition of his exceptional skills and contributions to martial arts, the IMAC organizers appointed Mashaya as the representative of the Martial Arts Body in Zimbabwe, presenting him with a certificate of appointment. This honor acknowledges Mashaya’s dedication and achievements in the martial arts community.
