London-based billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Stive Masiyiwa has been ranked among the top ten richest black people in the world.
Masiyiwa is ranked number ten by Africa Business insider, a leading pan-African creative business news company aimed at aspirational business executives.
The list includes Nigerian conglomerate, Aliko Dangote whose net worth is $11.3 billion; American media mogul, Oprah Winfrey whose net worth is $3billion and South African mining magnate Patrice Motsepe whose fortune is at $3 billion.
Masiyiwa’s net worth is estimated at $1.8 billion and he is also ranked 1 848th wealthiest person, globally.
In his article, Chinedu Okafor of Africa Business insider likens Masiyiwa to Dangote who are both creating employment and pushing their nation’s industrial growth
“In addition to creating thousands of employments, his endeavors advance the nation’s industrial growth. In a similar vein, billionaires like Zimbabwe’s Strive Masiyiwa are driving technical advancement in Africa by constructing telecommunications networks that link millions of people,” reports Okafor.
Masiyiwa is is the founder and executive chairman of international technology groups Econet Global and Cassava Technologies.
