The Zimbabwe Electrician Supply Authority Holdings (ZESA) has said the excessive power cut being experienced across the nation is due to reduced power generation at Hwange Power Station.

In a press statement this morning the national electricity generator and supplier said there is a fault at Hwanhe Power Station which generates the country’s largest megawatts.

“We would like to advise its valued stakeholders that the national power grid is currently experiencing reduced electricity generation capacity due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station,” read the statement.

This has been further compounded by low generation capacity at Kariba Power Station, resulting from low water levels. ZESA has said technical teams are actively working to resolve the issue.
