Freeman HKD, one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent dancehall artists, is entering an exciting new chapter in his music career. The musician, known for hits like Joina City and Unondipa Rudo, has reportedly signed with Virgin Music, the artist and label services division of Universal Music Group. At the same time, Freeman is preparing to launch his next album at the highly anticipated HKD Music Festival on 25 October 2025 at Glamis Arena.
Born Emegy Sylvester Chizanga, Freeman HKD first rose to prominence in 2009 and has since become a household name in Zimbabwean music. He founded HKD Records, a platform that has nurtured local talents including Daruler, Delroy, and Magikal, and has consistently blended energetic dancehall beats with Zimbabwean rhythms and lyrics that resonate with both mainstream and underground audiences.
